Groundwater Nitrate Removal Performance of Selected Pseudomonas Strains Carrying nosZ Gene in Aerobic Granular Sequential Batch Reactors

چکیده
Four granular sequencing batch reactors (GSBRs) were inoculated with four denitrifying Pseudomonas strains carrying nosZ to study the process of granule formation, operational conditions bioreactors, and carbon concentration needed for nitrate removal. The selected P. stutzeri I1, fluorescens 376, denitrificans Z1, PSC26, previously reported as microorganisms gene. Z1 produced fluffy, low-density granules, a decantation speed below 10 m h?1. However, 376 formed stable mean size from 7 15 mm, related strain concentration. I1 removed efficiently ratio in range 96%, depending on source organic matter. Therefore, findings suggest that inoculation GSBR systems spp. containing gene enables formation efficient removal nitrate, transformation into nitrogen gas, result considerable environmental interest avoid generation nitrous oxide.

Nitrogen Removal over Nitrite by Aeration Control in Aerobic Granular Sludge Sequencing Batch Reactors
This study investigated the potential of aeration control for the achievement of N-removal over nitrite with aerobic granular sludge in sequencing batch reactors. N-removal over nitrite requires less COD, which is particularly interesting if COD is the limiting parameter for nutrient removal. The nutrient removal performances for COD, N and P have been analyzed as well as the concentration of n...
متن کاملApplication of Granular Ferric Hydroxide in Removal of Nitrate from Aqueous Solutions
The aim of this study is to investigate the nitrate adsorption on granular ferric hydroxide (GFH). The effect of factors such as initial concentration of nitrate, pH, contact time, and adsorbent mass were determined. The study was done in laboratory–scale in which synthetic nitrate solutions in a batch reactor were placed in contact with the adsorbent to model adsorption kinetics. It was found ...
متن کاملAmmonium removal in granular activated carbon up-flow submerged reactors containing native bacterial consortium
Free ammonium in industries wastewater could be one of the worst toxic contaminants of aquatic life if diluted in water. Biological nitrogen removal (BNR) is the most common method for removing ammonium and nitrate from wastewater. Attached growth and suspended growth are the main BNR systems. The aim of the present work was to study the treatment of petrochemical wastewater (ammonium and nitra...

متن کاملModeling and optimization of biological sequential batch reactors
This work deals with modeling and operation optimization of biological sequential batch reactors (SBR). The SBR is a fill-and-draw biological sludge system for wastewater treatment. In this system, wastewater is added to a single batch reactor, treated to remove undesirable components, and then, discharged. In this paper, a global model of a gas-solid-liquid SBR is presented to investigate and ...
